Fort Caroline National Memorial
French Huguenots landed at this site in 1564, establishing
the first Protestant colony in the United States. The 130-
acre memorial, located in Arlington, features a replica of
the original fort overlooking the St. Johns River, a museum
with authentic French and Indian artifacts from the 16th century.
The park provides hiking and nature trails.

Jacksonville Zoological Gardens
From a 1,000-foot elevated boardwalk, visitors can view white
rhinoceros, leopards and Cape buffalo on the African Veldt.
"Let's Talk Animals" an animal show feature an eagle,
owl, tree kangaroo and more. Exhibits include "Mahail
Pa Simba" a lion habitat, an 860 square-foot outdoor
bald eagle exhibit, "Elephant Encounters" and "Animals
and Us". Visit the petting zoo and baby animal nursery.
Ride the new railroad at Okavango Village, home to dozens
of birds, mammals, dwarf crocodiles and tortoises.
